WildTangent
Description Tool that involves several components. Some components may come factory preinstalled on computers.

Includes:

The WildTangent Web Driver which facilitates automatic updates of games.

The GameChannel- software "which allows you not only a quick and easy way to launch all of your WildTangent games, but also informs you of our latest releases through notifications. (Software downloaded before May 2005)"
WildTangent games, the game component itself.

During installation of the Web Driver, users are offered a selection of update management options. In addition, after installation, a Web Driver Control Panel is available that allows users to change these update settings (it can be accessed from the Windows Control Panel).

The Web Driver can also be fully uninstalled from your computer at any time by using the standard Add or Remove Programs feature in the Windows Control Panel (please note that if the Web Driver is removed, your ability to access or use our game and other content, or third party content built for the Web Driver, will be impaired until you install a Web Driver). The GameChannel can also be uninstalled from your computer by using the standard Add or Remove Programs feature in the Windows Control Panel.

WildTangent comments from their website:

How did WildTangent get on my computer?
WildTangent is an online video game software company with partnerships with many companies like HP, Dell, Compaq, Logitech, AOL, and others. We package our games with their products such as computers and computer peripherals. We do not install our software onto your computer without your knowledge and consent.

If you have found WildTangent software on your computer, but didn?t install it, it was installed onto your computer in the following ways:

* Your computer manufacturer, such as HP, Dell, Compaq, or Gateway, preinstalled the software and games on your computer.
* Playing any of our games, like Polar Bowler, Blasterball or Tradewinds, or any AIM Games, like Lexibox and WildCards, will install WildTangent on your computer. In conjunction with AOL, we supply our games as a part of AIM Games.
* Trying one of our games from our website partners like MSN Gaming Zone, Yahoo and Shockwave. To view all our games, please go to our WildGames website.
* Someone in your household has played or downloaded any one of our games.   Read More
Category Description Bundled software is any software that includes other software with the installation. The bundled software is usually described in the EULA, or End User License Agreement, that may or may not be shown at the time of downloading. A popular example is Peer to Peer software that bundles additional software with their application in order to offset cost of giving the software away for free.
Comment Not considered spyware, however because it come factory installed users may want to examine EULA's and software operation because software has rights to update self.
